Marie-Catherine Bouchard started her vocal training at Notre-Dame-de-Foy Campus where she completed a technical program in popular music and jazz in 2008. She moved on to study jazz vocal interpretation as part of a bachelor at Université Laval. In 2012, she completed an intensive internship in Musical Theatre at Berklee College of Music. In 2015, Marie-Catherine pursued her master’s degree in instrumental didactics.
For over 10 years now, Marie-Catherine has been teaching singing in Québec City, namely for individual classes, vocal groups, group workshops and private coaching. She also teaches singing and vocal jazz at École de musique Arquemuse since 2007.
Since 2013, she has been teaching vocal technique at École secondaire Cardinal-Roy (Music concentration: La Maîtrise des petits chanteurs de Québec). In 2013, Marie-Catherine joined the teaching body of the Music Department at Cégep de Trois-Rivières and in 2017 at Cégep de Ste-Foy.
Marie-Catherine performs as a singer at several events wide-ranging in scope. For the past 5 years, she can be heard in a tribute to Barbara across Québec City, at the Espace Félix-Leclerc, the Maison Hamel-Bruneau and many others. More recently, she gave a tribute to Sylvain Lelièvre at the Parcours Volatil, among others, for the inauguration of the Maison de la littérature. She is also repeatedly hired as a freelance singer by various organizations. In fact, she represented Québec in “Boule à neige” in Brussels in 2014.
As a vocal coach, she enjoys supporting many artists in a variety of cultural projects. She participated in the project BBQ for the Carrefour International de théâtre in 2017 and joined forces with students of the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec for their final theatre project. She was also music director for the inauguration of the Maison de la littérature, choir director, Musical Theatre camp coordinator and offered many choir workshops.
Her deep interest for Jo Estill’s work first began in 2010, when she completed the first and second level of the Estill Voice Training in Québec City. She quickly got involved in the certification process and proudly got her EMT certificate in the fall of 2017.
